Professor Brain guides you through the fitting of DUAL GRIPS handles

Ah, installing your heated grips is a bit like putting together a puzzle: a few adjustments, some care, and... the satisfaction of a perfect result! Here are my favourite tips to guide you.

Removing your original grips: the art of gentle peeling
Say goodbye to your old grips with style, no need to rip them off like a barbarian.
Pro tip? Use a Phillips screwdriver (or a thin flat tool), gently slide it under the grip and twist it all around. This lets you peel the rubber nicely. No brute force needed here, gentleness works wonders!
✔️ A little WD-40 can help if it resists (but don’t overdo it).
Once removed, clean any glue residue carefully for a perfect surface. A little household alcohol works great.

Preparing your heated grips: heat them to slide better
Pro tip that will make life easier: turn them on for a few moments to warm them slightly. When warm, they slide much more easily onto the handlebar.
➡️ Apply the supplied glue directly on the handlebar, inside the grip, or both (but in moderation: the tube is designed to glue both grips).
➡️ Slide the grip into position, no stress, you have some time to adjust everything properly (see point 3).
➡️ Important: let the glue dry for a full day before riding again. Yes, waiting is hard… but this guarantees a perfect hold.

Throttle side fitting: dealing with splines
Does your throttle grip have lots of small ridges? Good news: they don’t matter for your new Dual grips!
➡️ My advice? Remove them with a file or fine sandpaper. Take it easy, no need to sculpt a masterpiece.
➡️ Once the grip is fitted, check the cable position, especially on the throttle side.
A badly placed cable can stop the throttle from snapping back automatically. Test to make sure it returns smoothly. A misaligned cable can ruin everything.

Left side: that tricky knurling
Ah, the left side! A subtle but crucial challenge.
➡️ Why? The left handlebar is often knurled to stop the grip from twisting or slipping. But those diamond-shaped ridges can make fitting difficult.
➡️ Prof Brain’s tip:
If the grip won’t slide on, don’t force it! You risk damaging the internal heating element.
Use fine sandpaper or a file to lightly reduce the ridges’ thickness. Just enough for the grip to slide on without too much resistance.
Apply a bit of glue, install, and you’re done.

Handguards? No problem!
Good news: the rings included in the kit fit perfectly with your handguards.
No cutting, filing or sacrificing anything needed — everything is designed for a clean and quick fit.

What if your grip is overmoulded?
Some recent models, especially from Triumph or Ducati, use overmoulded grips on the throttle. You can’t remove the original grip without replacing the whole unit... but don’t worry!
➡️ We are actively working on an over-grip system that fits over the existing one.
This system will offer the same performance as our Dual Grips:

  • 5 heating levels adjustable

  • Perfect compatibility with your heated gloves
